Event Catering Ideas for Your Next Corporate Meeting, Celebration or Party

Nyc catering company

Whether you’re part of a committee in charge of planning a corporate event or preparing to host a birthday party or other celebration, choosing just the right menu will be foremost in your mind. There are so many details to take care of when hosting an event, so you may also want to hire special event and catering services that can take care of other details, such as decor and table arrangements.

When you’re looking for event catering ideas, much will depend on the venue where it’s going to be held as well as how many guests you’ll be having. If this is a corporate event, then you’ll want to hire a corporate catering company because they specialize in creating corporate menus. If you’re planning to have your celebration in an outdoor venue, then you’ll want to hire a company that specializes in outside catering services.

It’s important to know if your guests have any dietary restrictions or food allergies when considering event catering ideas. Some of your guests may have specific religious dietary requirements or preferences, so that is also something to keep in mind. Be sure to let your caterer know when you discuss menu options so that they can make adjustments accordingly.

Are you thinking about a morning brunch complete with Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s? A late afternoon or early evening with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails? Or perhaps you’re planning a light dinner followed by dessert?

If you’re planning a brunch, you may want to have an omelet station with a variety of fillings. You could also have fresh fruit, croissants, and other pastries. Salad bars are also popular, especially when there is such lovely organic produce available.

Have you considered having a food bar or station? There are so many choices here as well. You could have a taco bar complete with guacamole and different types of salsa as well as beans and rice. Another idea for a food bar is sliders, which are very popular. You could also add a vegetarian slider for those who prefer not to eat meat.

If you’re planning to just have dessert, then having a sundae bar is a great idea. You can serve several different types of ice cream and frozen yogurt–even gelato. And of course there would be chocolate fudge and caramel sauce with whipped cream, nuts, and assorted fruit toppings. You could also have another food station with assorted cupcakes, cake pops, chocolate fudge cookies, butter cookies, and macaroons.

For an afternoon or early evening event, such as a cocktail party, you may want to consider serving antipasto skewers. These flavorful appetizers might have a grape tomato, a small ball of mozzarella, and a pimento or garlic-stuffed olive. You could also have skewers of barbecued chicken with a variety of dipping sauces or lettuce wraps with chicken in a savory Thai peanut sauce.

After you consider these and other event catering ideas, you’ll want to find the best special event catering services available to ensure this occasion is a success. When you work with a caterer to learn about your menu options, remember they can also make recommendations.

Three Ways to Identify a Good Thermoforming Company

Food packaging equipment

Are you researching thermoforming companies to create plastic clamshell packaging for your product? Imagine this: your product goes all the way through research and development. You get a stamp of approval from the Food and Drug Administration. You gather suppliers and production resources. You gather wholesale clients. Your product is going to be a hit.

You know that stock clamshell packaging won’t work for your product, you need custom thermoform packaging. However, you figure all thermoforming companies are equal and the food packaging containers are such a small part of your product; you don’t put much research into thermoforming companies before selecting one. You just choose the first option on a long list of thermoforming companies that Google gives you.

Unfortunately, the supplier you use for the packaging of your product misses promised time frames. Or their product is defective and you don’t want your name attached to it. You don’t want to delay the launch of your product waiting for the thermoforming to get up to standard, but you don’t have the money lying around to abandon the investment you made in them and find a new thermoforming packager. In order to avoid this unfortunate setup, make sure that you take the following considerations into consideration before choosing between thermoforming companies:

Three Things to Consider While Choosing Thermoforming Companies

  1. Experience

Every thermoforming packaging project is unique, just as every company who orders thermoformed packages and every thermoforming company is unique. The trick is finding the thermoforming company who best aligns with the needs of your company and your particular custom project. Before choosing a supplier, make sure to ask the following questions:

    • How long have you been in business? If the thermoforming supplier has been around for years and years, it’s a good sign that they know a thing or two about how to keep their clients happy. Their experience is also a sign that they’ve seen your product needs before, and will know how to meet them.

    • Do you have experience in my industry? Although every thermoforming product is different, if the supplier works in your industry, they’ll be aware of the challenges and regulations that you’re dealing with.
    • Do you have examples of products that are similar to mine? There’s no better way to know that your project is in good hands than being able to look at and touch clamshell packaging similar to what you’re looking for that the supplier has created for other clients.

  2. Expertise

You might know your product backwards and forwards, but you aren’t an expert on thermoforming; you’ll have to trust the thermoforming manufacturer with that. A few good questions that will help you gauge their level of expertise include:

    • Will your company work with me from design concept to completion? Many thermoforming decisions should be made at the concept phase, you need to know that you’ll have a thermoforming expert from start to finish.

    • Do you have in-house engineering and design staff? You don’t just want promises, you want to hear credentials of the people handling your project.
    • What material is best suited for my application? This is an indication of how well the manufacturer will partner with you to make sure your project is successful.
  3. Tooling

In addition to know that the humans working on your project are equipped to guide your thermoforming packaging order to success, you want to know that the equipment that actually creates the packaging is good quality. Poor quality tools will create a range of problems for you. You’ll have a greater chance of coming across defective products when cheap tools are used. Any rework that you’ll have to do will increase your production costs and reduce your profit margins; especially if the whole batch has to be thrown away and a new thermoforming supplier has to be found. All of these issues will drag out lead times, and as an entrepenuer, you know that time is money. Before choosing a thermoforming supplier, take a tour of the facilities ask about the tooling material, the temperature controls, the trimming equipment, and assembly process. You want to feel confident that your project is in good hands.

How to Plan an Event Without Losing Your Mind

Types of party rentals

Organizing the perfect event can keep even the most experienced of event planners, whether professional or amateur, awake at night. From arranging a sophisticated and intimate wedding to planning the ideal birthday party for a one year old prince or princess, eventing is all about understanding your focus and the guests that will be attending. Here are a few tips to help you avoid sleepless nights and have guests saying “wow”!

Children’s birthday parties are becoming increasingly sophisticated and often over the top as families try to outdo each other. This can become very costly and still end up with an unhappy birthday girl or boy because the dream was not quite realized. The first thing to consider is what type of party you are planning. For example, many families look for smaller, more intimate options when their children are young using the “age plus one” rule. In this scenario then a party for a four year old will have five guests. Fewer guests mean greater opportunity to stretch the budget to exciting experiences from dance floor rental for an 11-year-olds disco party to chocolate fountain arrangements for an eight year olds theme party. There are a variety of interesting chocolate fountain recipe ideas around that can suit almost any theme.

Weddings on the other hand are usually much larger affairs, needing to balance the desires of both bride and groom and their families. Beyond venue and dance floor rental, wedding parties should consider the overall look and feel of their wedding event, the different components such as the ceremony itself, the cocktail hour, and the reception as well as any peripheral events that will complement the main events. One overarching theme can be adapted for each wedding component, so while the ceremony might be a formal version of the theme, the reception might be quirkier and more relaxed, allowing the bride and groom’s personalities to shine through.

You might for example think that bounce houses are only rented for children’s events, but increasingly couples are opting to ditch the dance floor rental and splurge on bounce house options for their adult guests. A bounce house measuring 15 x 15 can take four adults — or 10 children. There are even a variety of bounce house game ideas available to add even more mad fun to the wedding experience. Another fun idea to make your wedding shine is to opt for a dessert buffet or a sweet shop option during the cocktail hour. Bespoke custom desserts or sweets can be created to represent the bride and groom and their love. Sweet shop tables allow guests not only to sample some options at the wedding but also to take some home as wedding favors too.

The reality is that an event is about showcasing the personalities of the people involved while also ensuring that all your guests are entertained, well fed and amused for the entire duration of the event. From the pickiest three year old to great aunt Thelma, event guests know what they want and will let you know if they don’t get it. The best advice for planning an event is to to do your homework, recognize that you need to balance your own likes with those of your guests and keep a firm grip on the big picture. Happy planning!
